Christantus Uche Sparks Comfortable Palace Victory at Shelbourne.

Even though embarking on their maiden continental campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting at a rapid pace. Without star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a commanding win that all but guarantees them a place in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

Another victory in their next match against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to secure direct passage to the knockout stages, particularly following a previous setback against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Seize the Opportunity

This match offered a platform for some of Palace's lesser-used talent to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second start after arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a well-taken finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a another, finding the net for the second game in match.

A Shelbourne side that had concluded their domestic season proved no match even for a mostly rotated Palace lineup. The Londoners were already weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.

Control Established from the Start

Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple finish.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close minutes later, driving a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the official dismissed the appeals.

Ex-Arsenal man didn't need to wait long to get his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's shot had struck the post.

The home side were hanging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for a couple of agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

The match was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of comically weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

After the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his very first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also missed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for improvement in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect night for the visiting side.
